Installation Refrigeration Apprentice or Service Refrigeration Apprentice

S-RAC are currently looking for motivated Installation Refrigeration or Service Refrigeration Apprentices to join our well established, active VRF Installation/Service team working on our current and future projects.

We are seeking team members with a strong work ethic who are willing to go the extra mile. You thrive in a team environment but also have the potential to lead. Compensation:

We offer competitive hourly rates and excellent benefits including 3 weeks paid vacation and RRSP.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, service and maintain equipment
  • Keep excellent notes outlining the details of the work performed
  • Thorough and current knowledge of venting and gas codes, air-conditioning electrical, ductwork, and plumbing
  • Correctly interpret assembly and wiring diagrams
  • Troubleshoot issues to ensure the system / equipment is in working order prior to leaving the customer location
  • Identify other preventive work whilst on site
  • Prepare and file work orders for completed jobs
  • Able to work independently

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • 1st year refrigeration mechanic, sheet metal, plumbing or electrical

 

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Own basic personal hand tools for the trade (S-RAC will supply company related tools)
  • Be able to work overtime as required

Entry Level Mechanical Technology / Systems Estimator

S-RAC are currently looking for a motivated Entry Level Mechanical Technology / Systems Estimator to join our well-established, active VRF Installation/Service team working on our current and future projects.

Responsibilities:

Candidates will be required to read and decipher drawings and blueprints and be responsible for preparing quotations on project invitations to bid. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the receiving and distributing of project invites and project files
  • Update bid lists according to project deadlines
  • Maintain the directory of project files, contractors and quotations
  • Analyze and dissect information relevant to our scope of work from mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Print off relevant information and create project packages to assist in project take offs
  • Preparation and distribution of project quotations to mechanical contractors by contractor deadlines
  • Solicit equipment/material pricing from suppliers
  • Consult with mechanical contractors regarding current projects and bid tender projects
  • Request, receive and analyze shop drawings from suppliers, confirm information is accurate prior to distributing to mechanical contractor
  • Assisting colleagues by providing relevant project information stored in project files

Preferred Experience: 

  • Diploma in mechanical technology or systems (HVAC)

Requirements:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc)
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time efficiently
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Attention to detail

    HVAC-R Service Journeyman

    Currently hiring motivated HVAC-R Journeymen to join our well established, active VRF Installation/Service team working on our current and future projects.

    Compensation:

    Competitive hourly rates with excellent benefits including 3 weeks paid vacation, and RRSP. A company phone, tablet, and work vehicle with all major tools will be provided, as well as specialist manufacturer’s training.

     

    Responsibilities:

    As an HVAC-R technician, you will apply your knowledge and experience in the installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a wide variety of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintain and service heat pumps, air handling units, fans, humidifiers, pumps, VAV boxes, motors, refrigerators, chillers and freezers
    • Troubleshoot HVAC control
    • Replace filters and belts
    • Update documentation (drawings specifications, O&M manuals, etc.) related to HVAC services
    • Install new services in renovation or building changes as determined by the Manager
    • Order HVAC supplies
    • Respond to environment comfort complaints
    • Installation of wall and ceiling mounted accessories
    • Complete preventive and demand maintenance tasks; enter maintenance records on work orders
    • Able to work independently and on-call rotation

    The ideal candidate will have/be:

    • Red Seal qualified or equivalent
    • Familiar with wide variety of HVAC equipment manufacturers
    • Ability to work independently and as a team leader/member
    • Experience in VRV installation, commissioning and troubleshooting
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Able to diligently complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner (estimates, warranty, work orders, commissioning reports etc.)
    • Knowledge/experience with inverters, VRF/VRV’s, BMS and DDC will be considered an asset

     

    Preferred Experience:

    • Journeyman or 4th year apprentice
    • “B” gas ticket

     

    Additional Skills:

    • Ability to compile job quotations; accurately estimate labour and materials
    • Work with and train apprentices

     

    Requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license
    • Have basic personal hand tools for the trade (S-RAC will supply company related tools)
    • Be able to work overtime as required
    • Be willing to occasionally take part in factory training seminars after working hours
